New! The date of the next chapter meeting has changed to October 30 and the room location has changed to P-41.
Welcome to the Southeast Chapter of the American Medical Writers Association
(AMWA). Our region comprises AMWA members from Georgia, Tennessee,
Mississippi, and Alabama. Our chapter meetings, programs, and conferences are held in
Atlanta, Georgia, where you can also find the national headquarters for
the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention, CARE,
the Arthritis
Foundation, the American
Red Cross, and the American
Cancer Society. Emory
University and many other medical institutions, associations, and services are located here as well.
The AMWA Southeast Chapter typically has six meetings during the academic year.
Most meetings involve dinner, an informative lecture or tour, and then a brief discussion
of chapter business. Not only are the program topics interesting, it's fun
to meet other people with similar backgrounds and interests. These meetings provide
excellent networking opportunities, as our chapter has nearly 200 members from a wide variety
of medical communications backgrounds, including members from:
- Academia
- Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
- Non-profits like the American Cancer Society
- Healthcare information businesses like WebMD
- Pharmaceutical industry
- Freelance writers
- Journalists
- Editors
Whether you are an experienced medical
writer or just starting out, we welcome your membership and participation.
